WHAT TO EXPECT
During your session with Kelly Colson Photography you can expect to be photographed having fun, being in the moment with your family and occasionally posing for the camera.
In each session I strive to capture each person’s unique personality. I will take time to make sure that you get exactly what you want.
Having your picture taken should be an exciting and memorable experience.
My goal is to create beautiful art that adorns the walls and shelves in your home for years to come.
WHAT TO WEAR
Coordinate your outfits, but don’t match. Start with the girls and women’s clothing and look for a piece to standout then pull colors from their outfits to create a look for the boys and dads.
Accessories can add that extra touch to an image to make it feel complete. Look to add scarves, hats, jewelry, sweaters, vests, jackets, etc. but don’t let the accessories overwhelm the image. Choose your accent colors and fill in outfits with those punches of color in accessories. Babies and toddlers do not need many accessories. Little ones are so sweet and simple on their own.
The choice of shoes can make or break the outfit. Men look most masculine in closed toed shoes. Heels elongate a woman’s legs and make them look fabulous.
WHERE TO DISPLAY
Think about the main reason you are doing the session and dress accordingly. If it’s for Holiday cards you might want to dress in winter inspired clothing.
For a gallery canvas in the living room, think about coordinating with the colors and feel of your décor.
The location can add a whole lot of meaning and fun to your photos! The images will be focused on you, but a great background adds a ton of color, texture, lines and light! Typically I shoot in either a natural or urban location.
Natural spots are open fields and treed areas. They work great for playing and focusing on each other. The best time of day to shoot is early morning or just before sunset to take advantage of the beautiful golden light.
Urban spots are cool alleys and buildings. They have great color, texture and variety! If there is shade available I can shoot in urban spots almost any time of day.
I have a number of locations both urban and natural that I use and I am always open to suggestions as well.
Booking Your Session
First, decide if you would like a full session or a mini session. I recommend full sessions if you have children 5 or younger.
Next we decided on a date and time. The light is best first thing in the morning or late afternoon.
After the date and time have been confirmed you will receive an invoice and contract. The invoice is to be paid upon receipt and contract completed prior to our session.
Then we will choose a location. I have a number of locations both urban and natural that I use and I am always open to suggestions as well.
Now comes the hard part, what to wear! Think about where you are going to display your photos and build on the colors from there.
AFter Your Session
Now the fun part! No more than 2 weeks after your session you will receive your online gallery. Go through your gallery and choose your favorites! Share with friends and family.
A code will be delivered with your gallery that allows you to download the digital images included with your session.
